Kia ora. My name is Kathy Bennett. I am from Tāmaki Makaurau. I work at CARE Waitakere Trust in Te Atatu Peninsula. I also am an online provider. I work Monday to Thursday from 9 to 3 p.m.
I am a counsellor with a Postgrad Diploma in Trauma and Violence Studies. I have ten years’ experience in working with grief, and with people bereaved by suicide. During the time, I have facilitated over 50 Seasons for Growth groups in schools throughout Auckland. Seasons is a peer support programme for young people exploring change, loss and grief. I have a lot of experience of working with teenagers and young adults, as well as older clients.
I use narrative and strength-based approaches in my work, and support a collaborative relationship that allows a person a safe non-judgmental space to explore their story and process their feelings and experience at their own pace.
