Kia ora, my name is Jo Appleby. I am available for face-to-face sessions in Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay, Titirangi, Glen Eden and Henderson.
Within those suburbs, I can see children and young people at their school, and can see people in their community. I am also available online and for phone support throughout the country. I work within school hours.
I live in Titirangi and really enjoy exploring the local bush and beach with my family, including my 3 children. I have been working therapeutically as a social worker since 2007 and have postgraduate qualifications in mental health and cognitive behavioural therapy and a PhD in trauma-responsive mental health care. A lot of my clinical experience has been with young people and families who have experienced trauma. I worked in mental health services for 16 years and have been teaching on the postgraduate mental health programme at AUT since 2021.
I have experience working with children, young people, and adults. I believe that everyone should be able to access support that is tailored to their needs, and I am committed to equitable care. My practice is based on values of empathic care, compassion, walking alongside people, and honouring their stories. It is my privilege to support people bereaved by suicide.
